A footballer has waived his rights to commercially exploit his AI-generated likeness.
Wallapop has partnered with a company to use its image, voice, and digital identity data for commercial AI applications.
According to the specialized sports economics platform, the Guardian has reported that Australian footballer Cristian Volpato has licensed his AI-generated digital identity to US company Callandor.
The agreement reportedly allows the company to use his digital likeness, including his image and voice, for commercial purposes. The business model aims to facilitate advertising partnerships and digital experiences featuring a version of the athlete, while also enabling authorized management of digital identity use to prevent unauthorized exploitation.
The Guardian report notes that the company also works with other athletes. However, the contract value and Volpato's potential earnings from the deal were not disclosed in the report.
